When doing a software reflash on a tractor or combine you typically have to start at the top of the list and reload from A-Z to ensure proper install, as most ecm's are interconnected to ensure redundancy.John Deere Service Advisor EDL V2 Diagnostic Kitġ.
I simple electro-mechanical fix with a revised component likely requires a complete software reflash just to get the up to date drivers for the revised replacement. And, the electronics are very sensitive to settings and configurations. All technology on them are so intertwined that you can't do anything mechanically or hydraulically without doing something electronically in conjunction. It's not that Deere is so strict, all modern self-propelled machinery is so complicated. Posted 09:15 (#5183822 - in reply to #5183048) Subject: RE: John deere service advisor
$2400 bucks a year? That's outrageous! You'd have to use it several times a month to make that pay for itself. Although they said if you purchased it, it could be installed on 2 computers.
I'd look at it as more of how often do you change equipment? If it's not very often, I think I'd go ahead and just get op manuals and tech manuals and it'll basically do everything for you there, plus you won't have to pay for a monthly fee and don't have to worry about getting your Service Advisor updated or have to worry about it working or worry about the computer failing on you and having to reinstall it on another computer. (They currently have the access to the new version but it does not have full functionality yet. Dealers will soon be upgrading to a newer version. There will be no controller reprogramming available for users outside the dealers.Ĭurrently the Service Advisor will be the DVD disk version Service Advisor 4 that dealers are currently using. This will give you interactive tests, calibrations readings data. If you purchase the EDL, which is the connection hardware, you can connect to the machine. If you want old tractors 60 series and back, I think its about $20 for the set of disks, a one time purchase. There is another subscription if you want smaller than 5000's. That is for the AG info only, 5000 series tractors and up. Basically if a person wants to pay for the program they can get it. I thought I heard the guy who has the web site Ifixit went to court to make all companies release their software.
